Size: Large approx. 3 3/4" size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types. Each barrette is individually handmade and may have some slight variations in appearance.
I've been making wooden barrettes for over 20 years. My barrettes are all made from SOLID wood.

They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint.
Maple (Fiddle-back / Curly / Tiger) (Acer saccharum) The term fiddleback comes from the use of this extraordinarily unusual grain pattern in the manufacture of musical instruments, most commonly associated with the famous luthier Antonio Stradivarius. Stradivarius built many of his violins using this type of figure on the backs of his violins, hence the term "fiddleback."

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.

I couldn't decide between this curly maple or the purpleheart, so I ended up getting both. It had to be made to order so it took a little time, but handmade goods are always worth the wait! I love that I could still smell the tung oil when I opened it, and I love the silky smooth natural finish. The wood piece is high quality and finely crafted, and held onto the French clip very securely with screws. It's a very sturdy and strong barrette, and it will undoubtedly last for decades.

Gorgeous wood grain that shifts in the light, attached with actual screws to the clip. Excellent quality and great packaging. It is big and strong enough to hold all of my thick hair comfortably.
