Photos of gemstones / woods
Can you send me photos of individual gemstones or pieces wood to choose from?
Unfortunately, it's not possible for us to take photos of individual gemstones or woods. We're super busy creating and packaging customers orders and we just don't have the human resources to take individual gemstone photos or keep them set aside while waiting for response. Thanks for understanding.
If you have any particular specifications for what you would like, let us know in the notes section during checkout or shoot us a message and we'll do our best to make it happen!
Barettes
What size Barrette should I choose?
We offer 4 different sizes of Barrettes / Hair clips
Small (barrette size approx. 2 1/2") - Good barrette for use in fine hair, children's hair, or to pull back a section of fine hair.
Medium (barrette size approx. 3") - Good barrette to pull back a section of normal thickness hair or all of your finer hair.
Large (barrette size approx. 3 3/4") - The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.
Extra Large (barrette size approx. 4 1/4") - Best barrette for use in lots of thick or extra long hair.
Hair Sticks
How do I wear hair sticks?
Did you know that hair sticks, hair pins, and combs can be worn as a decorative additions and don't have to be used to hold hair in place? You can slide them into a French twist or braids as a stylish accent or even secure a bun or ponytail with a neutral holder first and then add them as a fun decorative element! The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Hair Sticks - One of the most versatile hair accessories we offer. Can be used as a decorative accent or to anchor your hair in place for French Twists, Buns, Partial Buns, Chignons, tucks and many more styles. The majority of our customers will find that our standard length hair sticks will work well for them, but those with extremely long or extra thick hair might need the longer sizes.
Not sure what will be the best length for you? Try experimenting with a set of pencils (lightly sanded and blunted to prevent hair damage) in different lengths to give you an idea of the best size for you. Keep in mind the decorative and jeweled toppers will add additional length that won't affect the "functional length" or amount of hair stick actually holding your hair.
One Hair Stick or two? If you are a seasoned hair stick expert and can easily hold you hair securely with one stick than one would probably suffice for you. However, for most people (especially if you are new to hairsticks) I generally recommend two hair sticks to give a firmer hold for your favorite hair styles. I regularly have customers order one hair stick and then come back for the second shortly after they receive it - the best match for a pair is always in purchasing them together as wood grains and colors can vary quite a bit from piece to piece - you'll also save on shipping that way.
Hair Pins - Our hair pins can be used in much the same way as our hair sticks - to hold French Twists, Buns, Partial Buns, Chignons, tucks and many more styles. For the best hold, insert Hair Pins, Combs and Sticks using a stitching motion - down toward the scalp up and down again until you have worked the pin across the entire hair style. The more you "stitch" the pin, the better hold you will achieve!
One Hair Pin or two? - Many customers are able to obtain a secure hold with just one hair pin, but those with extra long or extremely thick hair may benefit from a second pin for added hold.
