Handcrafted SMALL wood barrettes in Pink Ivory wood. Sold as a matched pair (pictured) or individually. Size: Small approx. 2 1/2" size of clip: 60mm / 2 1/4" Good barrette for use in fine hair, children's hair, or to pull back a small section of hair. These Barrettes are built to a very high standard for a lifetime of wear and are gallery quality. We use AAA premium materials: the world's finest sustainably sourced exotic and domestic hardwoods, precious metals and gem grade gemstones. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted one at a time in our northern Michigan studio.

I've been making wooden barrettes for over 20 years. My barrettes are all made from SOLID wood.
**Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**

Pink Ivory- (Rhamnus zeyheri - South Africa) No, not the tusk from a pink elephant, but a beautiful wood from Mozambique. Pink Ivory, with its pale to hot pink coloring and lovely grain figure, is extremely rare and very difficult to find. Called "the royal wood of the Zulus" because of its importance in local customs. Expensive!

They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint. Glue joints on barrettes will eventually fail over time. These will not.

We are a zero waste shop: furniture cutoffs become jewelry boxes, jewelry box cut offs become hair pins and barrettes and the smallest pieces become jewelry. We've even had our sawdust used in kiln firings. Silver scrap is recycled too.
