Handcrafted wood barrette in Spalted Maple 

Large approx. 3 3/4" size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.

 

Maple (Spalted) (Acer rubrum) Spalted Maple is one of my all time favorite woods because of its limitless variety of distinctive black lines that make each piece a true one-of-a-kind.  They look to me like Chinese calligraphy or pen and ink landscapes. Though rare and difficult to find, the beauty of the patterns formed by spalting make for some of the most interesting inlays of fine boxes and is very sought after in the musical instrument industry as well.

**Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**
They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint.

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.
