Handcrafted SMALL wood barrettes in Curly Koa wood. Sold as a matched pair (pictured) or individually.

Size: Small approx. 2 1/2" size of clip: approx 60mm / 2 1/4" Good barrette for use in fine hair, children's hair, or to pull back a small section of hair. Photo is example of wooden hair clip in a specific wood type. Each is individually handmade and may have some slight variations in appearance.

These Barrettes are built to a very high standard for a lifetime of wear and are gallery quality. We use AAA premium materials: the world's finest sustainably sourced exotic and domestic hardwoods, precious metals and gem grade gemstones. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted one at a time in our northern Michigan studio.

I've been making wooden barrettes for over 20 years. My barrettes are all made from SOLID wood.
**Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**

They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint. Glue joints on barrettes will eventually fail over time. These will not.

We are a zero waste shop: furniture cutoffs become jewelry boxes, jewelry box cut offs become hair pins and barrettes and the smallest pieces become jewelry. We've even had our sawdust used in kiln firings. Silver scrap is recycled too.

Curly Koa (Hawaiian Islands) - Reddish to dark brown with some black streaks, Medium texture usually with straight grain to wavy. Because this species is in limited supply it is hard to find and is expensive. Frequently used in high end guitars.

I individually handcraft all my hair barrettes using only premium materials - the highest quality made in France hair clips (much stronger and more durable than the cheaper flimsy counterparts) and the finest rare exotic and figured domestic hardwoods in the world! With a wide range of available sizes, there are wooden hair clips and wood barrettes here to fit the needs of all hair types.

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.
