Large approx. 3 3/4" size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.
Purpleheart- (South America) Striking shade of purple when cut, darkens to brownish purple with age.

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.

I had been using a multicolored wood barrette to pin up my hair nearly every day for the last 20 years, but it finally snapped along a a grain line and I needed a good quality replacement quickly.
This beautiful barrette is finely crafted and made of solid wood with a silky smooth finish. It's very sturdy and strong, and holds all my hair securely. The metal French clip is held onto the wood piece with screws - another point of failure on my old barrette. I'm sure this one will far outlast it, and possibly me as well!
