Handcrafted Hair Clip. Wood barrette in rare Claro Walnut Burl. A unique gift to a wife for a 5th anniversary. The wood used in these barrettes was cut-offs from Mercedes Benz shift knobs.
We are a zero waste shop! Furniture cutoffs become jewelry boxes, jewelry box cut offs become hair pins and barrettes and the smallest pieces become jewelry. We've even had our sawdust used in kiln firings. Silver scrap is recycled too.
Available Sizes:
XL: approx. 4 1/4" long size of clip: 95mm / 3 3/4" Best barrette for use in lots of thick hair!
Large: approx. 3 3/4"size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.
Medium: approx. 3" size of clip: 70mm / 2 3/4" Good barrette to pull back a section of normal thickness hair or all of fine hair.
Small approx. 2 1/2" size of clip: 60mm / 2 1/4" Good barrette for use in fine hair, children's hair, or to pull back a small section of hair i.e.ebangs
Walnut Burl - Claro Walnut is an American exotic tree, native to the upper Sacramento River basin. Known for its deep rich colors and intense figure and coveted by gun stock manufactures and master craftsman. Produced by grafting American and English Walnut. Swirly grain with blistered effect. Difficult to find and very high priced.

I've been making wooden barrettes for over 20 years. My barrettes are all made from SOLID wood.
**Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**
They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint. Glue joints on barrettes will eventually fail over time. These will not.

Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.
