We hand craft this hairpin in American Walnut. Average size 5 3/4"x 3/4". Each is lovingly hand crafted in our northern Michigan studio.
American Walnut - This wood comes from the species Juglans Nigra, Juglans Hindsii, It is a very stable dense wood with colors that range medium red to a rich chocolate brown.

We've been making wood hair pin for over 25 years. They have a specially designed shaped top and profile (curving in and back out again - like an hourglass) which helps them maintain a tight firm hold in the hair. Edges are smoothed, transitions are eased for a no snag safe hold in your hair.
Hair Pins are much easier to use than most people think (there's a trick to getting them to stay in tightly), these wood hair picks can be worn in a number of hairstyles and updos including buns, French twists, knots, chignons and many others.
