I hand sculpt this lovely barrette from beautiful premium Great Lakes Birdseye Maple. I then inlay 3 beautiful cognac-colored genuine amber cabochons in hand-made sterling silver settings. The amber cabochons have wonderful inclusions and are beautiful when the light passes through them!
Size: Large approx. 3 3/4" size of clip: 80mm / 3 1/4" The most commonly used barrette size. Will work well for most hair types.
Our barrettes are gallery quality. We use AAA premium materials: the world's finest sustainably sourced exotic and domestic hardwoods, precious metals and gem grade gemstones. Each piece is lovingly hand crafted one at a time in our northern Michigan studio.
Of all the "exotic" domestic hardwoods, bird's-eye maple (Acer saccharum) is perhaps the most highly prized, for it's distinctive clusters of "bird's eyes," those shimmering little bubbles of convoluted grain, often accompanied by satiny swirling grain or quilted figure. Few woods in the world are as dramatic, unique or sought after.
Many states in the Northeastern and North Central U.S. produce bird's-eye maple, but the best, finest textured wood comes from right here, in pristine Northern Michigan, where the climate and the soil provide ideal growing conditions for this rare and valuable timber. So, that's what you're getting when you buy my Birdseye hair jewelry - only the best!
**Orders come presented in a lovely box ready for gifting and US orders over $35 ship free via USPS Priority mail**
Care: Please remove jewelry and hair accessories when sleeping, showering or swimming. Precious metals can tarnish - we recommend storing your jewelry and hair accessories in the plastic bag provided when not in use.
**Always hold and insert hair sticks and barrettes using the wood and metal base, not the decorative top portion of the stick / pin**
**All barrettes are new and unworn - photos are taken on a mannequin with a wig**
We've been making wood barrettes for over 20 years. Our wooden barrettes are all made from SOLID wood. **Never a thin layer of veneer over a cheaper base wood**
They are screwed not glued to the made in France clips for a strong, durable, mess free joint.
Barrette clips vary quite a bit in quality. I use only the highest quality French Barrette Clips on all my barrettes. They have proven themselves over time to be the best available.
